Where in the world is

So, after getting hired by Carnival Cruises, I sailed on the Victory around the Caribbean for a week (8/9 - 8/16), flew over to Miami (8/16) to spend some time in the office and warehouse and then traveled to Monfalcone, Italy (8/18) where the new ship, Carnival Dream is being built. It is my first experience in a take out. It's a lot of work loading and setting everything up but is great to experience the progress and to know we will soon be welcoming passengers and traveling around the deep oceans! I am in a new tech position as this ship has an extra venue that will be use as a Comedy Club and where I will be doing both sound and light.

Monfalcone is a small ship building town in the very north east section of Italy, right next to Slovenia and relatively close to Venice. Fincantieri, the shipyard is pretty big and sadly I have to walk from the hotel to the ship and back, about 35min each way under to extreme sun of Italy and with not breeze or shade at all. Needless to say, I don't enjoy the sweating and can't wait to get back to my hotel room to take a shower everyday. I do enjoy walking at night to the wine bar by the square and having a Moscato (sweet white wine) for 2 euros! Gelatos are pretty amazing too, and also 2 euros!!! Yes, I would be loosing weight if it wasn't for all of this along with the bread, pasta and pizza.

The team is great! We all get along and of course, being the only girl around, I am bound to see/ hear/smell pretty awkward things. The good thing (for the most part!) is that everyone seems to be really comfortable around me, too comfortable sometimes!!! We have Brett (lighting), Rev. Dave (sound), Will (flying), Liam (lounge) and soon to arrive Luis (backstage).Together, we are the Dream Team!!!

We will soon move to the ship around the 2nd and set sail to Civitavecchia (port of Rome) on September 18th to get ready for the Maiden Voyage on the 21st and then the Transatlantic to New York on October 27th to eventually sail to Port Canaveral, the official port of call of the Carnival Dream.

Well, this is my first post, ever! Right now I am home in Puerto Rico.  As I embark in a new adventure, I decided to record it, sort of a journal that will also let my family and friends know where I am and what I'm up to. I have travel plenty in the last couple of years. Been from Hawaii to Barcelona, Florida to Montana, but always stop in my beautiful Puerto Rico.  On the way, I have befriended amazing people from all over the world that will forever be part of my life!
